Murat Arkın — Biography

Known by his stage name, Murat Arkın was born Murat Cüreklibatır in Istanbul on 4 May 1975, the son of screen legend Cüneyt Arkın — remembered for the role of Battal Gazi — and Betül Işıl. As a young child he made brief appearances in his father's films Vatandaş Rıza (1979) and Önce Hayaller Ölür (1981).

He earned a degree in informatics from Marmara University, then moved to London for a master's program, where he ran a business for several years before returning to Istanbul in 2011; an agency there cast him in Pis Yedili. He went on to play "Kare Murat" in the 2012 comedy series Harem and a young Kara Cemal in the 2014 film Panzehir. In 2018 he portrayed special-ops officer Kemal Boratav in the Star TV miniseries Börü and its companion film, returning to the role in the 2021–2022 sequel Börü 2039.

Competing on Survivor Türkiye in 2026, he was voted out shortly before the finale and afterward disclosed that he had spent two and a half years dealing with a health problem doctors had been unable to diagnose.
