Murat Boz — Biography

Murat Boz is a Turkish singer, songwriter and actor born on 7 March 1980 in Karadeniz Ereğli, Zonguldak. Encouraged by his mother, he passed an entrance exam in 1995 and spent four years at Istanbul Anadolu Fine Arts High School, where he studied piano and violin. He later took jazz vocal training at Istanbul Bilgi University and continued at the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory. During those years he earned his living as a backing vocalist for numerous performers, most notably Tarkan, with whom he worked for six years.

Boz launched his solo career in 2006 with the single Aşkı Bulamam Ben, and his debut album Maximum arrived the following year, earning him best-newcomer awards at several ceremonies. The albums Şans (2009), Aşklarım Büyük Benden (2011) and Janti (2016) followed, producing chart-toppers such as Geri Dönüş Olsa, Kalamam Arkadaş and Janti on the official Turkish chart. He moved into acting in 2014 as Pekmez in Hadi İnşallah, then took leading parts in Kardeşim Benim (2016) and its sequel as Ozan, Dönerse Senindir (2016) as Mehmet, Öldür Beni Sevgilim (2019) and the Amazon Prime Video film Rüyanda Görürsün (2023). He also played Toprak in the 2022 Netflix series Zeytin Ağacı. A judge on O Ses Türkiye whose contestant won the first season, he has received four Golden Butterfly and two Kral Music Awards.
