Şiir Eloğlu — Biography

Şiir Eloğlu is an actress of Turkish origin working in Germany, who holds both Turkish and German citizenship. She has appeared on German television, stage and screen for roughly three decades and lives between Berlin and Cologne. Her first name comes from her father, the poet and painter Metin Eloğlu, who won significant literary awards in the 1960s and 1970s.

She moved from Istanbul to Cologne at the age of four and, after school, studied for four years at the Hochschule für Musik Saar in Saarbrücken; her first stage engagements were in Erlangen, Oberhausen and Cologne. Her first film was Doris Dörrie's Happy Birthday, Turk! (1991), and she appeared in a Tatort episode in the same period. From 1993 to 1996 she reached a wide audience as the young assistant doctor Dr. Nesrin Ergün in the RTL series Stadtklinik. At the end of 1997 she moved to Berlin and played at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus in Antigone and Seven Against Thebes.

Later credits include Evet, ich will! (2008), the Swiss production 180° (2010, as Ülker Özel), Almanya: Welcome to Germany (2011, as Leyla), which won the Deutscher Filmpreis, further Tatort episodes and Tehran Taboo (2017, as the mother-in-law). On television she has been seen in Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten and, in 2014-2015, as the architect Suna Kaya in Lindenstraße; she also appears in the 2026 film Sarı Zarflar.
