Ah! The Beautiful Priestesses of Bacchus (Ah ! les belles bacchantes)
Ah! Les belles bacchantes is a 1954 French-Italian comedy directed by Jean Loubignac. It adapts the stage play Robert Dhéry had put on the year before under the same title; Dhéry wrote the screenplay and also plays the male lead. Produced by Lux Film, shot in French and running about 90 minutes, it is also known as Ah! The Nice Moustache, Femmes de Paris and, in the United States, Peek-a-boo. Germany knew it as Das Tollste vom Tollen and Spain as Justo en la diana.
Much of Dhéry's Branquignols troupe fills the cast. Louis de Funès appears alongside Dhéry, with Jacqueline Maillan, Jacques Jouanneau, Francis Blanche, Colette Brosset, Bernard Musson and Jacques Legras also in the company.
What stands out is its colour: unusually for the period it was shot and shown in colour, using the Agfacolor process, which makes it the first colour comedy of Louis de Funès's career.
