Amelie

Amélie (original title: Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain) is a 2001 French-German romantic comedy directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who co-wrote the screenplay with Guillaume Laurant. Set in the Montmartre district of Paris, it follows Amélie Poulain, a shy waitress played by Audrey Tautou, who decides to quietly improve the lives of those around her while struggling with her own isolation. The score was composed by Yann Tiersen.

The film won Best Film at the European Film Awards, four César Awards and two BAFTAs, earned five Academy Award nominations, and became one of the biggest international box-office successes in French cinema.
