Raid (Baskın) (translated)
Baskin is a 2015 Turkish surrealist horror film directed by Can Evrenol, adapted from his 2013 short film of the same name and marking his feature film debut. Evrenol co-wrote the screenplay with Cem Özüduru. The story follows five police officers who, while on night patrol, answer a distress call that leads them to an abandoned historic Ottoman police station, unknowingly stepping into Hell.
The film had its world premiere on September 11, 2015, in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival. Muharrem Bayrak and Gorkem Kasal returned from the short film version, joined by Ergun Kuyucu, Fatih Dokgöz and Sabahattin Yakut as the five officers. First-time actor Mehmet Cerrahoğlu, who has the rare skin condition GAPO syndrome, earned praise for his striking performance as the villain, The Father. The 97-minute film received mostly positive reviews from critics and won Best New Director at Fantastic Fest.
