Drama of the Rich

Directed by Mauro Bolognini, this 1974 historical drama is a French-Italian co-production shot in Italian. The film draws on a notorious real-life case from August 1902 in Bologna: the murder of Count Francesco Bonmartini at the hands of his brother-in-law, the lawyer Tullio Murri, which became one of the most famous murder trials of the era.

Giancarlo Giannini and Catherine Deneuve star, with supporting roles from Fernando Rey, Tina Aumont, Paolo Bonacelli and Kim Rossi Stuart. Originally titled Fatti di gente perbene and released in France as La Grande Bourgeoise, the film was honored with a David di Donatello award for Best Film.
