The Lovemakers
The Lovemakers (original title: La viaccia) is a 1961 Italian-French drama film directed by Mauro Bolognini. Adapted by Vasco Pratolini, Pasquale Festa Campanile and Massimo Franciosa from Mario Pratesi's novel L'eredità, it is set in Florence in the late nineteenth century. A young farmer arrives in the city to work for his wealthy uncle and there falls in love with a prostitute. Starring Claudia Cardinale and Jean-Paul Belmondo, the picture was entered into the 1961 Cannes Film Festival.
