Follow Your Heart

Follow Your Heart (Italian: Va' dove ti porta il cuore) is a 1996 Italian romantic drama directed by Cristina Comencini, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Roberta Mazzoni. The film adapts Susanna Tamaro's novel of the same title. Virna Lisi heads the cast together with Margherita Buy and Massimo Ghini, with Tchéky Karyo and Luigi Diberti in supporting roles. True to Tamaro's book, the story unfolds through the letters of an aging grandmother to her distant granddaughter, gradually revealing the buried secrets and unresolved conflicts that have shaped the women of the family across generations. Lisi's performance was honoured with a Globo d'oro and a Nastro d'Argento for best actress. The picture stands among the noteworthy Italian literary adaptations released during the 1990s.
