Ghoul (Gulyabani) (translated)

Gulyabani is a 2014 Turkish horror-comedy directed by Orçun Benli, who co-wrote the screenplay with Alptekin Öztürk and Şükrü Üçpınar. The title refers to a figure from Turkish folklore, a huge, long-bearded ghoul said to wander at night and frighten people.

The story follows four women who retreat to a hunting lodge deep in an eerie forest to work on the script of a fantasy film. As they explore the place and soak in the atmosphere, a string of unexpected events forces them to confront their own fears. The cast features Deniz Uğur, Didem Balçın, Ceyda Ateş and Melike Öcalan, joined by veteran names such as Cüneyt Arkın, Perihan Savaş and Mustafa Üstündağ. Produced by Muhteşem Film, the movie mixes supernatural scares with local humor.
