My Dreams, My Love, and You (Hayallerim, Aşkım ve Sen) (translated)

Movie · 1987 · 1 people

My Dreams, My Love and You is a 1987 Turkish feature film directed by Atıf Yılmaz from a screenplay by Ümit Ünal.

The story follows Coşkun, who grows up in an orphanage while nursing an intense, almost obsessive fascination with the celebrated film star Derya Altınay. His fixation runs so deep that he pushes aside Rukiye, his childhood sweetheart from the same orphanage. When Derya Altınay visits the school one day, Coşkun finally sees in person the star he has only known from the screen. That same visit, however, changes his life in an unexpected way: the actress adopts Rukiye and takes her away, leaving Coşkun behind. As the years pass, his admiration hardens into a single ambition — to write a screenplay for the woman who has dominated his imagination since childhood. Featuring a score by Esin Engin, the film explores obsession, longing and the pull of cinema itself.
