Hercules and the Black Pirates

Hercules and the Black Pirates (original title: Sansone contro il corsaro nero) is a 1963 Italian pirate-adventure film directed by Luigi Capuano from a screenplay by Piero Pierotti. Mixing the peplum formula with a swashbuckling sea tale, it casts Alan Steel as the mighty hero Samson, with Nello Pazzafini among the performers, alongside familiar genre faces such as Rosalba Neri and Piero Lulli. The story follows Samson as he takes on a merciless pirate who brings terror to the seas. Running about 93 minutes, the picture received little notice from critics and is generally recalled as a routine entry in the wave of Italian historical adventures made during the 1960s. Abroad it circulated under alternate names such as Hercules and the Pirates, while German-speaking audiences first saw it in May 1965 under the title Samson gegen die Korsaren des Teufels.
