Ho!

Ho! is a 1968 French-Italian crime film directed by Robert Enrico. Adapted from José Giovanni's 1964 novel of the same name, it runs about 95 minutes and stars Jean-Paul Belmondo. On its French release it recorded 1,774,340 admissions.

Belmondo and Joanna Shimkus share the leading roles, and Dominique Zardi also appears in the cast. Drawing on Giovanni's novel, the film belongs to the wave of hard-boiled European crime cinema of the late 1960s, a period in which Belmondo became closely associated with tough, charismatic characters.

Enrico wrote the screenplay with Lucienne Hamon and Pierre Pelegri. In Italy the film was shown as Criminal Face - Storia di un criminale, and in Germany it carried the title Ho! Die Nummer eins bin ich. Its Russian and Bulgarian titles translate roughly as “Call me O”.
