Dr. Popaul

Dr. Popaul is a 1972 French-Italian black comedy directed by Claude Chabrol, also released in some territories as High Heels or Scoundrel in White. The screenplay draws on Hubert Monteilhet's 1969 novel Murder at Leisure.

The story follows a compulsive womaniser who marries a plain but wealthy young woman, only to seduce her more attractive sister and father a child with her. His betrayed wife eventually answers with a revenge that is both painful and fatal. Jean-Paul Belmondo stars in the title role, with Mia Farrow and Laura Antonelli among the supporting cast. The film blends comedy and drama while turning Chabrol's characteristic irony toward marriage, desire and deceit.
