Michel Peyrelon — Biography

For roughly thirty years, French actor and stage director Michel Peyrelon played supporting parts. On screen he mostly played professionals such as a surgeon, an insurance man, a minister, a detective or a company chairman, and he reached his widest audience with the 1993 comedy Les Visiteurs.

He entered cinema with Les Vierges (1963) and was at his busiest in the 1970s. Dr. Popaul and La Scoumoune (both 1972) came first; in the latter he played a character billed as L'élégant, the smart dresser. He was Albani in L'affaire Crazy Capo (1973), the surgeon Bruno in Going Places (1974), Bobby Pilon in A Cloud in the Teeth (1974), Roger Portor in The French Detective (1975), the insurer Germain in Le Chat et la souris (1975) and Albert Schumacher in The Common Man (1975). In Scrambled Eggs (1976) he played the minister of agriculture.

The same line of work continued in 1979 with Le gagnant, where he played a detective. In the following years he appeared in Plus beau que moi, tu meurs (1982), Retenez Moi...Ou Je Fais Un Malheur (1984) and Radio Corbeau (1989); in 1993 he was in both Les Visiteurs and Justinien Trouve, or God's Bastard. Born on 10 October 1936 in Le Puy-en-Velay in the Haute-Loire department, he died in Paris on 4 June 2003.
