Il disco volante

Il disco volante is a 1964 Italian science fiction comedy directed by Tinto Brass and written by Rodolfo Sonego. Built with mockumentary elements, the film parodies the era's popular fascination with space and aliens, and was shot in a small village near Treviso in the Veneto region. It premiered in Italy on 23 December 1964.

The film showcases celebrated comedian Alberto Sordi in four distinct roles: a dim-witted Carabinieri sergeant, a tight-fisted accountant, a decadent count, and an alcoholic priest. By weaving together characters from different social strata, the film becomes a pointed satire of Italian society, and in particular of the people of Veneto, the region Brass had adopted as his home. The cast also features Silvana Mangano, Monica Vitti, and Erika Blanc.
