Lars Bloch — Biography

Lars Bloch was a Danish-born character actor who built his career in Italy and became best known for villain roles. He was sometimes credited as Lars Block or Carlos Ewing, and he also worked as a producer. He died in Rome on 27 March 2022.

After serving in the Navy he settled in Italy and, from the late 1950s, entered a very busy period as an actor. In the 1960s he played a physicist in Il disco volante (1964), Henry in Diary of a Telephone Operator (1969) and Alex Bjørnson in The Divorce (1970). His busiest years coincided with the Spaghetti Western wave: he was Clyde in Trinity and Sartana Are Coming (1972) and Eriksen in The Legend of Sea Wolf (1975), and he also appeared in Alleluja & Sartana Are Sons... Sons of God, Return of Halleluja and My Name Is Shanghai Joe. He was Captain McConny in Antonio e Placido - Attenti ragazzi... chi rompe paga and Eric van Darren in Emanuelle in America (1977).

Later he turned up in Italian comedies such as Fantozzi against everyone (1980) and Fracchia contro Dracula (1985). In the 1980s he largely withdrew from acting and went on to produce and distribute DVDs of Italian films, especially Spaghetti Westerns, in Japan.
