Through different eyes

Action & Thriller Fan Puts pace, tension and set pieces first; little patience for slow drama.

Cüneyt Arkın and Aytekin Akkaya side by side, chasing down a revenge trail: exactly what you want from an eighties adventure. The shared history of captivity between Şahin and Hasan gives the hunt more weight than a standard revenge flick. Some of the fights may look rough and dated today, but the story knows what it wants. Cahit Berkay's score keeps the tension up. A solid evening pick for genre fans.

Family Viewer Asks whether the whole household can watch it; cares about humour and heart.

This is not one to watch with children. The story involves war, captivity, torture and the killing of a son. Being a revenge tale, expect some harsh scenes too. For teenagers and adults it is a strong Cüneyt Arkın film. Still, it is better saved for after the little ones are in bed. Grandparents who love the old stars may well enjoy it.

Yeşilçam Nostalgic A viewer raised on the classics, looking for warm storytelling and strong acting.

Cüneyt Arkın's eighties adventures always promised a tale of valour; Kanca adds a wounded heart to that mould. Two men back from captivity, struggling to hold on to ordinary life, make this a story of pain before it is one of revenge, and to my mind that is where its real worth lies. The bond between Arkın and Akkaya feels sincere. Toron Karacaoğlu's familiar voice brings back the air of the old cinema halls. Even so, the revenge plot never reaches the depth of Yeşilçam's great dramas; the heart is there, but at times it is drowned out by gunfire.
