Dark Night (Karanlık Gece) (translated)

Karanlık Gece (Dark Night) is a 2024 Turkish-German-French drama directed by Özcan Alper, who co-wrote the screenplay with Murat Uyurkulak. The film won Best Film and Best Screenplay at the 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.

Set in a village in Eastern Anatolia, the story follows İshak, who is in love with Sultan, a young woman from the village. Unable to confess his feelings, İshak becomes jealous of Ali, a civil servant assigned to the village. When Ali disappears during a hunting trip, the events expose the village's lynch culture and the destructive power of love. Berkay Ateş, Pınar Deniz, and Sibel Kekilli share the lead roles.
