Berkay Ateş — Biography
Berkay Ateş was born on February 19, 1987, in Istanbul. He graduated from the Theatre Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, honed his craft at Semaver Kumpanya, and was among the founders of Tiyatro D22 in Galata's Kuledibi.
He made his film debut in Emin Alper's Abluka (2015), a role that earned him the Promising Young Actor award at the Adana Golden Boll Film Festival. In 2016 he moved to television with the series İstanbul Sokakları and Anne, becoming widely recognized for his portrayal of Cengiz in the latter. He went on to appear in the films Görülmüştür (2019) and Karanlık Gece (2024).
In 2026 he reunited with director Emin Alper for the film Kurtuluş, which won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and opened in Turkish cinemas on March 6, 2026. During the same period he also appeared on stage in the play Sessizliği Vurun, continuing to balance film, television and theatre work.
