Caner Cindoruk — Biography

Caner Cindoruk was born on 17 April 1980 in Adana; his mother is Müşerref and his father the story writer Zafer Doruk, a two-time winner of the Orhan Kemal Story Award. Of Yörük descent on his mother's side and Kurdish on his father's, he has a brother, actor Taner Cindoruk, and an uncle, theatre actor Erdal Cindoruk. After graduating from Çukurova University's Faculty of Business Administration, he turned professional at the Adana Seyhan Municipality Theatre in 1997 and spent a decade on stage with the Seyhan Municipal and Adana City Theatres.

Settling in Istanbul in 2006, he debuted on screen in Beynelmilel and on television in Kara Güneş, then built recognition through Doctor Nazmi in Yaprak Dökümü and Kemal in Hanımın Çiftliği (2009). His first lead role came in Aramızda Kalsın (2013), and his performance as Cemal in Kor (2016) earned him Best Actor at the Sadri Alışık Awards; he went on to reach wide audiences with Kadın (2017) and as Volkan Arslan in Sadakatsiz (2020).

In 2026, playing Mesut, a tribal leader from Mardin, in Emin Alper's Kurtuluş, he saw the film win the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the Berlin Film Festival and himself receive a Best Actor award in Vietnam for the same role. That year he also joined the cast of Hamal, alongside Oktay Kaynarca and Fahriye Evcen.
