Blockade (Abluka) (translated)

Abluka, internationally known as Frenzy, is a 2015 drama film written and directed by Emin Alper. A co-production of Turkey, France and Qatar, it is the director's second feature and stars Mehmet Özgür, Berkay Ateş and Tülin Özen, with Müfit Kayacan in a supporting role.

The film follows Kadir, who is paroled after twenty years in prison. In an Istanbul gripped by political turmoil, he is forced to work as an informant, posing as a garbage collector while searching shantytown refuse for bomb-making materials. Along the way he tracks down his brother Ahmet, who works for the municipality culling stray dogs, but Ahmet's distant manner feeds Kadir's growing suspicion and conspiratorial thinking. Abluka competed for the Golden Lion at the 72nd Venice Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Prize, and was also shown at the Toronto International Film Festival.
