Lemonade (Limonata) (translated)
Limonata is a 2015 Turkish comedy-drama that marked actor Ali Atay's debut behind the camera; he co-wrote the script with Ertan Saban. The story opens in Macedonia, where Suat, a retired long-haul truck driver, is bedridden with a terminal illness. Summoning his son Sakip, he reveals a final wish: decades earlier he had married a woman in Istanbul in a religious ceremony, fathered a boy named Selim, and then walked away while the child was still a baby. Before dying, he longs to see that son and ask for his forgiveness.
Stunned to learn he has a brother, Sakip climbs into his father's worn-out car and drives to Istanbul armed with nothing but Selim's name and an old address. Structured as a road movie that shuttles between Macedonia and Istanbul, the film follows the meeting of two brothers who have grown up as complete strangers. Ertan Saban and Serkan Keskin lead the cast, with Funda Eryiğit and Luran Ahmeti in supporting roles.
