Loin

Loin is a 2001 French-Spanish drama film directed by André Téchiné. The screenplay was written by Téchiné, Faouzi Bensaïdi and Michel Alexandre, and the film was produced by Ciné B. Running about 120 minutes, it received its wide release in September 2002.

Set in Tangier, Morocco, over the course of three days, the film tells the story of three young friends making critical decisions about their uncertain future. A young French truck driver hauling goods between Morocco and Europe agrees to a risky smuggling operation; while waiting in Tangier, he reunites with his Moroccan friend, who is looking for a way to cross into Europe, and with his girlfriend, who is torn over whether to emigrate to Canada. The main roles are played by Stéphane Rideau, Lubna Azabal and Mohamed Hamaidi; the cast also includes Gaël Morel, Rachida Brakni and Jack Taylor.
