Macaroni

Macaroni (original title: Maccheroni) is a 1985 Italian comedy-drama film directed by Ettore Scola. Written by Scola together with Ruggero Maccari and Furio Scarpelli, the film stars Marcello Mastroianni alongside American actor Jack Lemmon. Produced by Filmauro and shot in Italian, it runs for 102 minutes and incorporates elements of the buddy film genre.

The film was selected as Italy's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 58th Academy Awards, notably chosen ahead of Federico Fellini's Ginger and Fred. However, Macaroni was ultimately not accepted as a nominee by the Academy. The picture remains one of Scola's notable mid-1980s works, bringing together two celebrated leading men from Italian and American cinema.
