Gente di Roma

Directed by Ettore Scola, the 2003 Italian comedy mockumentary Gente di Roma portrays the city of Rome and its inhabitants through a series of self-contained episodes unfolding from early morning until late at night. Stylistically close to Fellini's Roma, the film blends documentary elements with fiction, alternating stories of key characters played by amateurs with scenes carried by professional actors. Scola's daughters co-wrote the script. The film is dedicated to Alberto Sordi, whom Scola had hoped to cast as a nobleman in the final scene, but Sordi died before this could happen. The cast includes Valerio Mastandrea, Stefania Sandrelli, Giorgio Colangeli and Antonello Fassari.
