Mark Shoots First
Mark Shoots First (Italian: Mark il poliziotto spara per primo) is a 1975 Italian crime film directed by Stelvio Massi. It belongs to the poliziottesco wave that dominated Italian popular cinema in the 1970s and continues the story begun in Mark il poliziotto, released earlier the same year.
Franco Gasparri heads the cast, supported by Lee J. Cobb, Massimo Girotti, Ely Galleani, former boxing champion Nino Benvenuti, Spiros Focás and Guido Celano. The screenplay is credited to Dardano Sacchetti, Stelvio Massi and Raniero Di Giovanbattista. Running roughly one hundred minutes, the picture was distributed abroad under its English title, while French-speaking markets knew it as Marc la gâchette. The film mixes the police procedural with the rough-edged action style typical of Italian genre filmmaking of the period.
