Runaway Mummy (Mumya Firarda)

Runaway Mummy is a 2002 Turkish-Egyptian co-production directed by Erdal Murat Aktaş and written by Haluk Özenç. Blending action, comedy and adventure, the film was made with the backing of companies such as Show TV and Warner Bros.; it was released in Türkiye in 2002 and reached Egyptian audiences in 2003. The story follows the chase that unfolds around a mummy smuggled from Egypt into Türkiye, moving back and forth between the two countries with a humorous tone.

The cast brings together Egyptian actors Maged ElMasry, Nilli Kerim, Fathy Abdel Wahab and Samy El Adl with Turkish performers including Teoman, Nurgül Yeşilçay and Selami Şahin. Shot in Turkish and Arabic, the film stands out as one of the rare international co-productions of Turkish cinema in its period, thanks to its mixed ensemble.
