Isolated (Münferit) (translated)

Münferit is a 2007 Turkish film noir written, directed and produced by Dersu Yavuz Altun. Shot on 35 mm, it was released theatrically on 9 May 2008 by distributor Özen Film.

The story unfolds in a seemingly tranquil coastal town. Two men's bodies are recovered from a car submerged beneath the sea, while two children found badly injured on the roadside later die in hospital. It also emerges that numerous young women in the town have been assaulted. As Aylin, a teacher who is among the victims, is questioned, flashbacks gradually expose the links between the corpses, and the presence of a pervasive wiretapping network complicates the investigation further. Inspired by actual newspaper reports, the screenplay attempts to portray the decaying moral climate of its era.

The cast includes Ali Erkazan, İdil Fırat, Mahir İpek, Serhat Nalbantoğlu and Muhammet Uzuner. Tolga Burkay composed the music and İlker Berke served as cinematographer.
