Nekrut (Nekrüt) (translated)

Nekrüt is a 2008 Turkish comedy directed by Ulaş Ak that mixes science fiction with humor as it follows an alien race's encounter with the Turks. Shooting took place in Uzunköprü, a district of Edirne, and the press screening on 28 October 2008 was attended only by the film's cast and producers.

The plot centers on the people of the planet Nekrüt, who live on nothing but ayran. Once their reserves of the drink are exhausted, the planet's leaders realize that their name reads "Türken" when reversed and conclude that a buttermilk-producing society exists in Türkiye on Earth. A mission made up of three adults and one child is dispatched there to resolve the crisis, and the team stumbles into a string of unforeseen adventures.

The ensemble features well-known figures of Turkish cinema, among them Erol Günaydın, Mustafa Topaloğlu, Erkan Taşdöğen, Ercan Yazgan, Yıldırım Öcek, Başak Sayan, Sinan Bengier, and Nuri Alço.
