Nez de cuir

Nez de cuir is a 1951 French-Italian historical drama directed by Yves Allégret and released in 1952. Adapted by Jacques Sigurd from Jean de La Varende's novel published in the 1930s, the story unfolds in France in the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars. Roger de Tainchebraye, a young Norman gentleman notorious as the Don Juan of his native region, is gravely wounded in Champagne during the 1814 French campaign and left disfigured. Forced to hide his mutilated face behind a mask, he becomes known by the nickname "Leathernose." Jean Marais heads the cast alongside Françoise Christophe and Mariella Lotti. The production was filmed at the Joinville Studios, with sets created by art director Georges Wakhévitch.
