Odds and Evens

Odds and Evens (original title: Pari e dispari) is a 1978 Italian action comedy directed by Sergio Corbucci, reuniting the popular screen duo Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. The story unfolds in Florida, where most of the film was shot. Johnny Firpo, a lieutenant working in intelligence for the US Marines, is assigned to dismantle a Mafia network in Miami that rigs sports betting. He teams up with his half-brother Charlie Firpo, a truck driver, and together they strike heavy blows against the crime syndicate run by Paragoulis. The pair eventually infiltrate the Greek gangster's private yacht, which hosts an illegal casino, and trigger a massive brawl that is only stopped when the Marines intervene. The picture performed well commercially, ranking fourth at the Italian box office in the 1978–79 season and drawing over five million viewers in West Germany. In 1979 it received the Golden Screen award, sharing the honor with Superman and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Critics found the film amusing but complained that the extended fistfight sequences slowed the actual plot.
