Playing with Fire

Playing with Fire (French: Le Jeu avec le feu, Italian: Giochi di fuoco) is a 1975 French-Italian comedy-drama film written and directed by Alain Robbe-Grillet. Shot in French with a runtime of 112 minutes, it stars Jean-Louis Trintignant in the leading role.

The story follows banker Georges de Saxe, who receives an anonymous call telling him his daughter Caroline has been kidnapped. Although a ransom of one million dollars is demanded, Caroline soon returns home; even so, her protective father is advised to place her in a private clinic for her own safety, and the intrigue unfolds from there.

The film drew more than 350,000 admissions in France and competed at the 1975 Avoriaz International Fantastic Film Festival. The supporting cast includes Sylvia Kristel, Philippe Noiret, Anicée Alvina, Jacques Doniol-Valcroze and Charles Millot.
