Return of Sabata (Sabata Dönüyor)

Return of Sabata is a 1971 spaghetti Western directed by Gianfranco Parolini, an Italian-French-West German co-production that closes the Sabata trilogy. Parolini co-wrote the screenplay with Renato Izzo and signed the English-dubbed version under his pseudonym Frank Kramer.

Lee Van Cleef returns in the title role, having played the sharpshooter in the first film, Sabata, before Yul Brynner replaced him in Adiós, Sabata. Sabata, a master gunfighter and former Confederate officer, arrives in a small Texas town in the 1870s with a travelling circus to put on shows. There he runs into his former lieutenant, who still owes him money. While trying to collect the debt, Sabata uncovers the crooked dealings of an Irish family that controls the town and decides to stay and see matters through.

The film features a score by Marcello Giombini and displays the genre's trademark flourishes, from striking camera angles to outlandish weapon designs. It opened in Turkey in December 1972 and was later listed in the 1978 book The Fifty Worst Films of All Time.
