Tanguy

Directed by Étienne Chatiliez, Tanguy is a 2001 French comedy about a 28-year-old man who simply refuses to move out of his parents' comfortable home. Successful, well liked and thoroughly at ease, Tanguy sees no reason to live anywhere else, much to the growing despair of his mother and father, who had long assumed their son would eventually leave. What begins as mild frustration turns into an escalating campaign as the parents devise increasingly inventive and ruthless schemes to push him out the door. Éric Berger stars as the stubborn son, with Sabine Azéma and André Dussollier as his exasperated parents. Chatiliez co-wrote the screenplay with Laurent Chouchan. Beyond its farcical premise, the film offers a blackly comic look at modern family life and the phenomenon of adult children who never quite leave the nest.
