The Dogs

The Dogs (original title Les Chiens) is a 1979 French drama film directed by Alain Jessua, who co-wrote the screenplay with André Ruellan. Running about 100 minutes, the film features Victor Lanoux, Fanny Ardant and Jean-François Dérec, alongside performers such as Gérard Depardieu, Nicole Calfan and Pierre Vernier.

Shot in French, the work blends its dramatic core with elements that bring it close to the horror genre. Upon its release it was entered into the 11th Moscow International Film Festival, earning the film international exposure and standing as one of Jessua's notable works from the late 1970s.
