Robert Parrish directed the 1974 crime thriller The Marseille Contract. A British-French co-production in English of about 89 minutes, it was released in the United States as The Destructors. Michael Caine, Anthony Quinn and James Mason share the lead roles. The screenplay is by Judd Bernard, who adapted his own story What Are Friends For.

The story is set in France. An American agent wants to bring down one of the country's most powerful drug barons and hires a professional assassin for the job. The hired killer turns out to be an old friend, which puts the mission to the test. The script draws in part on the "French Connection" affair that came to light in the early 1970s, in which heroin from the Far East was processed in illegal Marseille laboratories and shipped to Europe and above all the United States. The cast also includes Maurice Ronet, Marcel Bozzuffi, Alexandra Stewart, Catherine Rouvel, Georges Beller and Charles Millot.

Filming took place mainly around Paris, Marseille, Nice and Cannes, with further scenes shot at Pinewood Studios in England. Made on a budget of roughly two million dollars, the film is remembered as a major commercial failure. It opened in West Germany on 24 October 1974, where it is known as Fluchtpunkt Marseille.
