Until the End of the World
Directed by Wim Wenders, Until the End of the World is a 1991 epic science fiction drama set at the turn of the millennium, in the shadow of a world-changing catastrophe. The film follows Sam and Claire, a man and a woman pursued across the globe because of a device capable of recording visual experiences and visualizing dreams.
William Hurt and Solveig Dommartin lead an international cast that also includes Sam Neill, Max von Sydow, Jeanne Moreau and Eddy Mitchell. The final screenplay is credited to Wenders and Peter Carey, based on a story by Wenders and Dommartin, after an early draft by Michael Almereyda. Conceived by Wenders as the ultimate road movie, the French-German-Australian co-production has been released in several versions ranging from 158 to 287 minutes.
