Volt

Volt is a 2016 German-French dystopian police thriller written and directed by Tarek Ehlail. Set in a near future ruled by an oppressive government, the film follows Volt, a police officer who kills a refugee named Hesham during an operation. When the killing goes unpunished, Volt's guilt draws him into the world of his victim. By day he remains a policeman; by night he moves among the refugees, witnessing the unrest his crime has sparked. As pressure mounts both within the force and on the streets, Volt comes to realize that what he has done is unforgivable.

The cast includes Benno Fürmann as Volt, alongside Sascha Alexander Geršak, Denis Moschitto and Ayọ. The film premiered on 24 June 2016 at the Munich Film Festival and opened in German cinemas on 2 February 2017. It was later broadcast on Arte in France and Germany in July 2018.
