Vatan Şaşmaz — Biography
Vatansever Şaşmaz, better known as Vatan Şaşmaz, was born on 8 January 1975 in Istanbul; his family roots are in Çanakkale. He graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Istanbul University and worked as a photo model in his youth.
He entered television with the morning show he co-hosted with Melike Öcalan on ATV. After many years as a presenter, he moved into acting in 2002 with the series Çocuklar Duymasın, and went on to appear in popular series such as Avrupa Yakası, Dudaktan Kalbe, Belalı Baldız, Yalancı Romantik, İşler Güçler and Galip Derviş.
On the cinema side, he acted in the films Keloğlan Kara Prens'e Karşı (2006), Kanal-İ-zasyon (2009) and Seninki Kaç Para (2012). Vatan Şaşmaz was shot and killed by former model Filiz Aker in Istanbul on 27 August 2017.
