Yıldız Kaplan — Biography
Yıldız Kaplan is a Turkish singer, actress and model born on 28 October 1970 in Bafra, Samsun Province. She entered television in 1996 playing Yasemin in the series Tatlı Kaçıklar, then appeared in the film Hemşo (2000) and the productions Asayiş Berkemal and İnşaat, and played Jale Tonguç in the series Evli ve Çocuklu.
Music followed acting: her 2002 debut record Gönül Borcu brought a Kral TV Video Music Awards nomination in the Female Arabesque-Fantasy Artist category, and the 2005 follow-up Işıl Işıl, made with Şehrazat, Metin Özülkü and Sezen Aksu, produced the hit track Sayende, which took the same awards show's prize for that year's top new female act.
Businessman Celal Kopuz became her husband in 2008, the year she also put out Motive, a self-produced record -- her third and, as it turned out, her last -- carrying compositions from Nazan Öncel and Sinan Akçıl. Singles followed: Aşk Dili (Haberin Yok) from Gülşen's pen, and her take on Ajda Pekkan's Eline Gözüne Dizine De Dursun, before Koş closed out her release history in 2015; two years on she told the press she was retiring from performing. Coverage that keeps resurfacing since then paints her as a grandmother of three, out of the public eye.
