Belkıs Dilligil — Biography
Born Belkıs Bergüzar Fırat on 19 February 1929 in Istanbul, Belkıs Dilligil finished her education at Fatih High School and began performing as an amateur at the Fatih Halkevi cultural centre before making her professional stage debut in a production of "Electra" at the İzmir City Theatre.
In 1956 she married Avni Dilligil, one of the leading figures of Turkish theatre at the time, and continued acting in film even after his death in 1971. Her screen credits include Yüzbaşı Tahsin, Beni Mahvettiler, Severek Ayrılalım and Yedi Bela Hüsnü, among dozens of other films and television productions from the prolific Yeşilçam era. Her daughter, Çiçek Dilligil, also went on to become an actress.
Belkıs Dilligil died in Istanbul on 14 May 1995, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on the Bosphorus Bridge.
