Captain Tahsin (Yüzbaşı Tahsin) (translated)

Captain Tahsin is a 1950 black-and-white Turkish drama film. Adapted from a story by Hıfzı Tan, it was co-written and directed by Orhon Murat Arıburnu, who also took the leading role. The production was handled by Naci Duru for Duru Film, and the celebrated writer Halikarnas Balıkçısı (Cevat Şakir Kabaağaçlı) appeared among the cast.

The story unfolds in the summer of 1921, during the Turkish War of Independence, as national forces withdraw toward Sakarya. When villagers near Kuyucak blow up an enemy ammunition column, they are rounded up for execution; a cavalry unit under Captain Tahsin storms the village and saves them. Severely wounded, Tahsin is found by a shepherd and nursed by Belkıs, the village schoolteacher. Having lost his memory, he is affectionately nicknamed 'Our Boy' by the villagers. Belkıs writes to her fellow teacher Pakize in Eskişehir, asking her to send a doctor. Meanwhile, the amnesiac captain and Belkıs fall in love—until it emerges that Tahsin is in fact Pakize's husband, long believed dead. Nedret Güvenç portrays Belkıs, while Belkıs Dilligil appears as Pakize.
