Defne Kayalar — Biography

Defne Kayalar was born on May 7, 1975, in Ankara. After graduating from the Graphic Design Department of Bilkent University, she began her career on the production side, producing the series Alacakaranlık with Uğur Yücel in 2003 and the film Yazı Tura in 2004.

She later moved in front of the camera, appearing in Keskin Bıçak and 20 Dakika before reaching a wide audience as Sedef Kaya in the 2014 hit series Medcezir. She went on to play Nesrin in Bu Şehir Arkandan Gelecek and Gül in Kuş Uçuşu (As the Crow Flies), the latter bringing her international recognition through its release on Netflix.

In 2024 she joined the Kanal D series Yargı as prosecutor İclal, and in 2026 she received a best actress award for her performance in the film Aniden.
