Gizem Erdoğan — Biography
Gizem Erdoğan is a Swedish actress, born and raised in Gothenburg to parents from Turkey, who has become a prominent young face of Swedish film and television. She is best known for the SVT series Caliphate (Kalifat), where her role as Pervin El Kaddouri won her the Kristallen award for best female actress in a television production. She now works in both Swedish and international productions and played Nina in The Home (2025).
She trained at Fridhems folk high school and, between 2012 and 2015, at the Malmö Theatre Academy. She made her acting debut in 2015 in the film Svenskjävel. Her film breakthrough was Beyond Dreams (2017), which brought a Guldbagge Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2018 and a Rising Star nomination at the Stockholm Film Festival in 2017.
After 2020 her screen work widened: she played the book publisher Denise Konar in the Netflix series Love & Anarchy and Leah in The Thin Blue Line (Tunna blå linjen), a part that earned a second Kristallen nomination. In 2021 she led the SVT Christmas calendar En hederlig jul med Knyckertz. With Sorry Not Sorry (2019) and Hidden: First Born (2019) among her credits, she appeared in the Netflix series The Playlist in 2022 and was named a "shooting star" by an international jury at European Film Promotion.
