Gizem Karaca — Biography

Born in Istanbul on 7 September 1992 to Münevver Karaca, of Albanian descent, and Cüneyt Karaca, whose family were Turkish immigrants from Thessaloniki, Gizem Karaca attended elementary school in the US and middle school in Canada before returning to Turkey, where she finished high school and enrolled in French Language and Literature at Istanbul University; in 2011 she placed second at Miss Turkey, earning the right to represent Turkey at Miss World 2011.

Taking up the acting offers that followed, she made her debut in the 2012 series Eve Düşen Yıldırım and, the same year, played Güneş Sancaktar in the Emir'in Yolu arc of Adını Feriha Koydum; after that series was cancelled early, she trained at the New York Film Academy and returned in 2013's Benim Hala Umudum Var, then in 2014 with her first film, Seni Seviyorum Adamım, and Güzel Köylü. In 2017 she played Deniz in İçimdeki Fırtına and had a brief run as Komiser Mercan in Kara Sevda; after the aviation biopic Hürkuş: Göklerdeki Kahraman and the series Alparslan: Büyük Selçuklu, she went on to appear in Şampiyon (2019), Baraj (2020), Dayı: Bir Adamın Hikayesi (2021), Özür Dilerim (2023) and Evli Mutlu Çocuklu (2025). She married businessman Kemal Ekmekçi on 16 September 2017 and is now the mother of a daughter.
