Kenan Ece — Biography

Kenan Ece is an actor who works across television, film and theatre in Türkiye, set apart by training and early professional work abroad. Audiences know him from the series Deli Saraylı, İzmir Çetesi, Krem and Kalp Hırsızı, and more recently as Murat Ünal in Avlu and Turgay in Sadakatsiz.

Born in Dubai, he grew up in Marmaris and Istanbul. After finishing the Austrian High School he studied theatre and economics at Davidson College in the US (2004), then lived in Dublin for four years, studying at the Gaiety School of Acting and the Irish Film Academy, appearing in 13 episodes of the long-running soap Fair City and working at the Abbey Theatre. His first Turkish film was Yüreğine Sor, sharing the lead with Tuba Büyüküstün, and his role in Beni Unutma won him Best Supporting Actor at the 17th Sadri Alışık Awards. He then established himself on television with Samanyolu and Deli Saraylı, played Captain Mustafa and Murat in the Turkish-Japanese co-production Ertuğrul 1890, and appeared in films such as Ver Kaç and Magi.

He has kept up the stage work: in 2012 he co-founded Çamurdan Theatre with Mustafa Üstündağ, acted in Bakarsın Bulutlar Gider, and played the same role in German when it was staged in Vienna in 2016. He is married to the actress Canan Ergüder, and they have a son.
