The Yard (Avlu) (translated)

Avlu (The Yard) is a Turkish drama and crime series that debuted on Star TV on 29 March 2018, adapted from the Australian series Wentworth. Produced by Limon Film, it ran for two seasons on television before a third season arrived on a global streaming platform.

The story follows Deniz Demir, who is imprisoned for the attempted murder of her husband Hakan and separated from her daughter Ecem. Inside the Karakuyu prison, Deniz must navigate the ruthless hierarchy among the inmates. Over time she becomes a feared and respected figure, while her bonds with ward leader Azra Kaya and the other women of block B1, the tensions with the prison staff, and the corruption of the system drive the narrative.

Led by Demet Evgar, Ceren Moray and Nursel Köse, the series touches on social issues such as domestic violence, the oppression of women and addiction. It found a large international audience and was sold to numerous countries.
