Selen Seyven — Biography

Selen Seyven was born on 2 April 1986 in Ankara to an Uzbek-descended mother and a Turkish father from a family of Yugoslav immigrant background; she is the niece of director Ezel Akay. After finishing the sports branch of Yahya Kemal Beyatlı High School, she trained in theatre at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center. She made her screen debut in 2004 with the series Büyük Buluşma, followed by small parts in the series Aşka Sürgün and the film Hacivat Karagöz Neden Öldürüldü. She took her first lead role in Aydın Sayman's Janjan, became known for playing Pınar in the Kanal D series Genco, and appeared in Osman Sınav's Doludizgin Yıllar. When Abimm (2009), in which she played a disabled teenager, opened in cinemas, fans reportedly filled an entire screening in her honour.

In later years she appeared in series including Kapalı Çarşı, Doktorlar, Leyla ile Mecnun, Avrupa Avrupa, Kocamın Ailesi, O Hayat Benim, Klavye Delikanlıları and Avlu. Seyven, who married in a surprise wedding in 2020 and became a mother in 2021, announced in 2026 that she was quitting acting, citing criticism of the television series industry.
