Selen Seyven — Biography

Selen Seyven Katırcıoğlu came into the world on 2 April 1986 in Ankara; her mother has Uzbek roots and her father's family had emigrated from Yugoslavia, and the director Ezel Akay is her uncle. She completed sports-track schooling at Yahya Kemal Beyatlı High School, then trained in theatre at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center, and first reached television screens in 2004 through the series Büyük Buluşma.

Small parts followed in Aşka Sürgün and the film Hacivat Karagöz Neden Öldürüldü, before her first lead came in Aydın Sayman's Janjan. Playing Pınar in the Kanal D show Genco brought her wider notice, and she also joined Osman Sınav's Doludizgin Yıllar. Her turn as a young woman with a disability in the 2009 film Abimm drew such devotion that admirers were said to have booked out an entire cinema showing on its opening day.

Later credits include the series Kapalı Çarşı, Doktorlar, Leyla ile Mecnun, Avrupa Avrupa, Kocamın Ailesi, O Hayat Benim, Klavye Delikanlıları and Avlu. She wed without fanfare in 2020, had a child the following year, and in 2026 said she was stepping away from acting, pointing to problems she saw in the TV series business.
