Mümtaz Ener — Biography
Mümtaz Ener was a Turkish film actor, director, screenwriter, and voice actor, born on 1 September 1907 in Muğla and died on 11 July 1989 in Istanbul. After finishing school at Kadıköy Aşiyan High School, he made his stage debut in 1923 in the musical Bülbül at the Istanbul Operetta, worked with the theatre troupes of Raşit Rıza, Sadi Tek, and Muhlis Sabahattin, and spent ten years with the Istanbul City Theatres. He entered cinema in 1940 in the film Yılmaz Ali, a role he owed to director Faruk Kenç. Over his career he appeared in more than 300 films, wrote the screenplays for four, and directed seven, including titles such as Köroğlu, Kızılırmak, Harman Sonu, Alın Yazısı, Cemo, and Üç Kağıtçılar. His daughter is the singer and actress Erden Ener.
